Friends of Serve and Protect is the charitable arm of Serve and Protect Credit Union, that aims to support the ‘greater community good’ of those who serve and protect the nation.

At Credit Unions, we’re about more than just savings and loans; it’s really about people helping people. That’s why we introduced the Friends of Serve and Protect. It’s our way of giving something back to our members. Through welfare and community support, we’re here to lend a hand to those who serve and protect the nation.

Lottery

Our Lottery offers members the opportunity to win monthly prizes, including a top prize of £1,000, along with additional prizes of £500, £250, and £100.

Community Fund

After the cash prizes are given out, remaining funds raised by the lottery are used to support the credit union and good causes which are close to our members’ hearts.

Welfare Fund

We also use the funds to support our members, to help them through times of severe financial difficulty and hardship.

How much can I win?

Our lottery gives you the chance to win £1,000 every single month! Plus there’s more. You could also win one of 3 prizes of £500, 4 prizes of £250, or even one of 10 prizes of £100.

How much does it cost?

You have the chance to enter up to five times every month, with each entry costing just £1.

How do I know if I’m the winner?

Every month, we have the pleasure of picking winners, and if you’re one of the lucky ones, you’ll get an email from our team letting you know. You can view all the results here.

It is £1 per entry to take part in the lottery, and you can make a maximum of 5 entries each month, totalling £5, which are deducted from your Regular Saver.

There are four cash prizes on offer:
1st Prize: 1 x £1,000
2nd Prize: 3 x £500
3rd Prize: 4 x £250
4th Prize: 10 x £100

The Community Fund supports requests for donations from Serve and Protect members.

The Community Fund will consider applications from individuals for welfare support, grants or sponsorship which are for the greater good of the Serve and Protect community.

This is where funding is going to clearly make a positive impact to the wider Serve and Protect family – for example sponsorship to raise important funds for a charity or to seek welfare support to complete a project which will help make a positive impact to the lives and community of the members we serve.

No application is guaranteed. These are considered on a case by case basis, and must be submitted by an member existing and for the benefit of the ‘greater community good’ of the Serve and Protect family.

In some cases we may not be able to support the full amount, however may offer you a smaller donation.

Normally, the donation will be paid directly to a charity, organisation or website – funds will not be paid directly to the applicant.

The Friends of Serve and Protect Committee will aim to respond to applications within a reasonable period.

The Friends of Serve and Protect Committee will contact you directly after the decision has been made.

There is no on-going commitment we require from you, although we would love for you to share any stories or pictures to show the positive impact our donation has made to the community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Welfare and Hardship Fund is designed to help our members who have been actively saving with us for 6 months and are 18 and older when they’re in need of a little extra support.

The Welfare and Hardship Fund will consider applications from individuals who require emergency financial support, particularly in cases where other means of financial support may not be available.

You’re welcome to apply for any amount between £50 and £250 per application.

You get to make one application over a 12-month period. It’s our way of keeping things fair and giving everyone a chance.

After you’ve sent in your application, we may need a little more information about your personal situation to figure out the best ways we can support you. If that happens, we’ll reach out to you and gather any information that could help us help you better.

While we can’t guarantee every application, we’re committed to offering our support and guidance to our members whenever possible. Sometimes, this might mean pointing you in the direction of local charities or support services that are better suited to meet your needs.

Rest assured, the funds will be sent straight to you. 

Our team will do their best to review all applications quickly and get back to you as soon as a decision is made. 

You’re not tied down to anything with us, and there’s absolutely no ongoing commitment required on your part. What we do hope for, though, is that you’ll keep sharing the good word about Friends of Serve and Protect.
