The start of a health savings habit
Kwaku, originally from Ghana, joined the British Army seeking new opportunities. Like many recruits, his introduction to Serve and Protect happened during training, where representatives from our team educated troops about managing their finances effectively. Kwaku started small, saving just £20 a month. Little did he know, this would spark a saving habit that would grow to over £400 per month!
So I signed up to save, like, £20 a month, and now I’m doing, like, £400, I think even more a month now because of how good it has been to me and my friends that I actually referred!
The power of saving from your pay
One of the standout features Kwaku appreciated was the ease of saving directly from his wages. With automatic deductions, he found it simple to set money aside without even thinking about it. Through the app, he could easily track his contributions and feel secure, knowing his savings were safe. By saving consistently, Kwaku now finds himself in an excellent position to consider purchasing a home.
This is the best way to save because you can tell them how much you want to say from your wages every month and they will take it straight from your money before you access your account!
Support his family with a loan
Beyond saving, Kwaku found support through loans from Serve and Protect. When his parents needed help building a home in Ghana, Kwaku knew he couldn’t save the money fast enough on his own. That’s when he turned to the credit union for help. Within 24 hours, the funds were in his account—giving him the peace of mind and support he needed to make a difference for his family.
If I didn’t actually sign up, I wouldn’t know how I would be able to save that kind of money to help my parents out. I’ve been able to provide assistance to my parents, and it has actually helped me a lot.
