Serve and Protect: Highlights from Our 2019/20 Annual Review

Our Annual Review reflects on our achievements and financial performance during the 2019/20 financial year.

Despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, we kept growing and supporting our members. One of the highlights of the year was welcoming new members from Health and Social Care, as well as the Fire and Rescue Service. As our CEO Paul Norgrove shared, this milestone “completed our Serve and Protect family.” It means we can now support everyone across the Protective Services and Blue Light community—people who do such an incredible job of serving the nation.

We know how important it is to feel heard, especially during difficult times. That’s why, when the national lockdown began, we introduced our ‘Wellbeing Call Service.’ This gave members the opportunity to chat with a staff member about how they were feeling. The service was incredibly rewarding—not just for our members, but for our team too.

We’re also proud of the financial resilience our members demonstrated during this time. Member savings grew from £55 million to £62 million over lockdown, with share deposits increasing by over 15.66% to £62.3 million. Additionally, £4.2 million in loans was provided to 647 members to help with debt consolidation, showing our commitment to supporting members’ financial well-being.
