This month on the 29th September, we will be celebrating Hidden Heroes Day. Hidden Heroes Day celebrates and thanks the often, unsung ‘Hidden Heroes’ across the custodial and community justice estate, who work tirelessly, especially during the covid-19 outbreak. It’s an opportunity to show them that, while they may be largely hidden from public view, they’re not forgotten, and that the people who know them best, truly appreciate all they’ve done, and continue to do.
Prison Officers and Staff throughout the UK play a pivotal part in creating a safe and secure environment to encourage and support rehabilitation and make a difference day to day. Probation Officers do not only work within the community but play a key role in courts and prisons. For all of these professionals, their roles are far from easy however, they deal with extreme stress, workplace injuries and many other daily challenges.
Yet, despite their huge contribution and incredible efforts in supporting those within our justice system, Prison and Probation Officers and Staff often go unnoticed, so to recognise the amazing work they have done and continue to do, we wanted to put in some of these amazing people in the spotlight.
To celebrate Hidden Heroes Day we are asking employees within the prison and probation service some questions in relation to their role within HMPPS. We would like to share their responses via our socials and website to shine a light on the incredible work that they do to serve and protect our nation.
