Financial Support
The Welfare Fund has been set up to provide emergency financial assistance to individuals in need, especially in situations where alternative support is unavailable.
Funded by the Lottery
Funded by the Friends of Serve and Protect Lottery, the committee meets monthly to look at all applications we receive and allocate funds to the selected worthy causes.
It is £1 per entry to take part in the lottery, and you can make a maximum of 5 entries each month, totalling £5, which are deducted from your Regular Saver.

The Community Fund supports requests for donations and funding from Serve and Protect members.
The maximum you can apply for our Community Fund is £10,000. Applications must be for the direct benefit of the Serve and Protect community.
The Community Fund will consider applications from individuals for wellbeing initiatives, grants or sponsorships which are for the greater good and direct benefit of the Serve and Protect community.
This is where funding is going to clearly make a positive impact and directly benefit the wider Serve and Protect family – for example sponsorship to raise important funds for a charity or to seek wellbeing support to complete a project which will help make a positive impact to the lives and community of the members we serve.
No application is guaranteed. These are considered on a case by case basis, and must be submitted by an member existing for the ‘greater community good’ and direct benefit of the Serve and Protect family.
In some cases we may not be able to support the full amount, however may offer you a smaller donation.
Normally, the donation will be paid directly to a charity, organisation or website – funds will not be paid directly to the applicant.
The Friends of Serve and Protect Committee will aim to respond to applications within a reasonable period. The team will contact you directly after the decision has been made.
There is no on-going commitment we require from you, although we would love for you to share any stories or pictures to show the positive impact our donation has made to the community.
Our Welfare and Hardship Fund is designed to help our members who have been actively saving with us for 6 months and are 18 and older when they’re in need of a little extra support.
The Welfare and Hardship Fund will consider applications from individuals who require emergency financial support, particularly in cases where other means of financial support may not be available.
You’re welcome to apply for any amount between £50 and £250 per application.
You get to make one application over a 12-month period. It’s our way of keeping things fair and giving everyone a chance.
After you’ve sent in your application, we may need a little more information about your personal situation to figure out the best ways we can support you. If that happens, we’ll reach out to you and gather any information that could help us help you better.
While we can’t guarantee every application, we’re committed to offering our support and guidance to our members whenever possible. Sometimes, this might mean pointing you in the direction of local charities or support services that are better suited to meet your needs.
Rest assured, the funds will be sent straight to you.
Our team will do their best to review all applications quickly and get back to you as soon as a decision is made.
You’re not tied down to anything with us, and there’s absolutely no ongoing commitment required on your part. What we do hope for, though, is that you’ll keep sharing the good word about Friends of Serve and Protect.

Community Fund applications must not be for the benefit of one individual. If you are need of support for personal hardship, please refer to our Welfare Fund.
To apply for our Welfare Fund, you need to:
Your application may not be considered if it is: a benevolent application; if you have submitted multiple applications to other welfare funds; or if you are receiving additional government funding or support.
Results are unveiled on the first Tuesday of every month and winners are contacted directly once the monthly prize draw has been made. Good luck!
